Leeds Guitar Teacher YouTube Channel – Guitar Tutorials, Band Archive & Music Career
Yes, that’s right — I’ve started a YouTube channel. It’s something I’ve been considering for a while, and now seems like the right time.
YouTube Channel (@huwbergine)
My career as a musician so far feels awesome, but somewhat fragmented. I’ve done a lot of stuff that covers a lot of ground. I’m an educator (guitar and ensemble), I’ve done session work, TV and broadcast, played in successful bands, founded and led successful function bands, and done solo work — ever since I was a kid.
I thought it would be nice to have somewhere where I can get it all in one place.
In terms of a more formal portfolio, you have my website:
And that’s still the best place to get in touch with me or book lessons.
But this channel will be more day-to-day, week-to-week — and of course more visual.
What's on the channel currently?
So far I’ve gone through and organised the channel into playlists.
I’ve got:
⸻
Koyo Bloom – Official Videos
This is my original band material — music videos, visualisers, etc.
⸻
Koyo Bloom – Live
Live videos from my original band. Everything from live studio sessions at RAK in London, to Download Festival footage and Rockaway Beach performances.
⸻
Club Mojo – Function Band Promos
This is my function band Club Mojo. I founded, lead, and play guitar in this band, and we’ve spent the past 3–4 years performing across the UK at weddings, corporate events, and more.
⸻
TV & Broadcast Session Appearances
This includes appearances on Blue Peter with RIKA, TVN Dzień Dobry (Poland’s #1 breakfast show) with KARI, and backstage/interview content from Leeds Festival.
⸻
Official Music Videos
These are my solo music videos.
⸻
Demos & Archives
Demos and currently unreleased music that I wanted to archive and continue adding to.
⸻
Schoolboy Archive
This is the one I had the most fun with and plan to keep adding to.
It currently includes everything from the first song I ever recorded in the early 2000s, plus a photo of me at Download 2005 with my friend and first band’s drummer Ollie. There’s also a lot of material from bands I led as a teenager.
My dad also has some of my earliest gigs on camcorder, which he’s going to digitise for me. This will continue to grow and evolve.
What will you post?
I started by sharing a 1-minute guitar improvisation in E Lydian. I took some time doing tester videos, getting the image and sound right, and investing in some new gear — including the YouTube-standard SM7B mic and a new webcam.
So I've started my first "new" playlist:
1 Minute Improv Series
I will add to this regularly.
Alongside that, I also plan to build out a few ongoing series on the channel.
⸻
Album Discography Ranking Videos
Inspired by Cranked and Ranked, one of my favourite podcasts. I’m going to rank and discuss some of my favourite bands’ discographies using TierMaker. This is just for the love of it.
⸻
Guitar Tutorials
Short guitar tutorial videos on small topics — little tips, mini lessons, and practical ideas across a wide range of topics.
⸻
Song Making-Of Videos
Longer-form videos of me working on new solo material. I’ll film the writing and recording process and turn it into edited videos when the track is finished.
This will include Logic sessions, guitar takes, vocals, drumming, and general behind-the-scenes workflow.
⸻
Interviews
I might also reach out to friends in the industry and do some informal interviews.
⸻
Covers
I may do some cover performances as well — guitar and vocals. Who knows!
why start now?
The main thing to bear in mind is this is an ongoing process. These are all just ideas, but everything I’ve done so far has been big projects that build over time and then come out in one go. I wanted something ongoing — an outlet I can use week in, week out, and somewhere to house everything I do.
Another place for a portfolio, this time visual.
I’m ready for something new. A new challenge. Something fresh and exciting. Some of my long-term projects are starting to reach a natural conclusion.
This is for me — it’s going to be fun. It’s just the start.
Join me.
Do you have a link to your first video improvising in E Lydian?
Absolutely — here it is.
